The data processing department notified me the other day that there would be a software update this Tuesday. According to licensing agreements iOS 65 was scheduled to expire at midnight, October 26, 2015, requiring an iOS update. An exception clause was included: the iOS update would not be required if the hardware was being taken out of service.
As noted, iOS 66 provides system improvements and fixes several bugs noted in iOS 65. These enhancements include:
Reduction in core memory.
Slower reaction time.
Enhanced keyboard.
Elevated volume controls.
Bold print in all textual communication.
Faster and more frequent calendar alerts.
Longer rest and sleep functions.
Enlarged GPS mapping and directional pronouncement.
All joking aside, I am thankful to add another year to this wonderful life. Like the Apostle Paul, "Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord" (2 Corinthians 5:8, ESV). Still, as Paul added, "So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him" (5:9). To know his goodness and favor in 66 years of life is a genuine blessing. Today, I am thankful.
There's been some learning too. The lessons of this longevity are numerous, but find some focus in a couple of areas.
1. His promises are real and should be the foundation of bold living.
2. His provision is complete for the totality of life.
3. His call is the highest honor of this life.
4. His grace is sufficient for every challenge of life.
5. His gift of a Godly wife and family has been my greatest blessing.
Of course, you will note the direction of these reflections. They're about Him. In this season, He is the central thought. The only regret in these years is that He was not central in the early ones too.
So, happy birthday to me. This day, even with all the old age references, is a thrilling gift, and the realization that these have been truly blessed years. Solomon wrote about the days of our lives---
So, if a person lives many years, let him rejoice in them all...
Ecclesiastes 11:8, ESV
With King David, my birthday prayer is---
So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.
Psalm 90:12, ESV
Now, let's see what those numbers really are---
I am 24106 days old.
Which is 3443 weeks and 5 days. That's 66 years and 0 days, including 16 leap days In other words, that's 792 months. I was born on a Thursday, my last birthday was a Tuesday and my next one will be on a Thursday.
Click here and you will be able to calculate your own days. It is being obedient to Scripture.
iOs 66 is downloading real slow.
